Mark Knopfler's 5th solo album "Kill To Get Crimson" has been released on 17/Sep/2007.The title is taken from a line of the song "Let It All Go". The CD cover image is taken from a painting by John Bratby (1928-1992) called "Four Lambrettas and Three Portraits of Janet Churchman" painted in 1958.

Mark Knopfler was honoured by the University of Sunderland on 11/July/2007 for his wonderful services to the music. Mark Knopfler received an Honorary Doctorate of Music from University Chancellor Lord Puttnam for his outstanding contribution in the field of music. Mark Knopfler also awarded Honorary Doctorate  in 1993 by the University of Newcastle and in 1995 by the University of Leeds for his outstanding achievements in the field of music.
